About 5 years ago, David Wilcoxen contacted and then met with Estes Adams about manufacturing a prototype semi-automatic FG42 based on David's designs. Once an agreement was made, David and Estes worked on the development of the project and the prototypes were completed. They are a true work of art and exhibit what can be done with talent and attention to detail which Mr. Adams surely has. As the friendship grew between David and Estes they threw in together and formed FG42 Inc. to market the rifle manufactured by Wilcoxen.
The plans and a prototype were submitted to the ATF for what became a lengthily approval process. The ATF approval was given just before Christmas 2006 and the rifle was classified as a semi-automatic ONLY rifle (NOT A Title 2 NFA Weapon). What a Christmas present it was!
It has taken a great deal of time and money to locate and contract with various machine shops all over the world with the "know how" to manufacture this unique firearm but we feel our semi auto FG42s will be THE standard which all other reproduction firearms will be measured by in the future.
